Where is home?

Youghal in Co. Cork.

Can you remember your first class ?

Vaguely it was  over 10 years ago . I had been a competitive kickboxer from early teens and wanted to try something new that would be a challenge. I'm pretty sure I nearly threw up . I had to go for a sleep after. But the addiction became real. I loved that the series was always the same but always a different challenge and  that you could go anywhere in the world and walk into class knowing what to expect..

What did you do before teacher training?

I'm an Actor by profession .I wanted to train to be a teacher for a long time . Being an actor means work constantly changes , being a yoga teacher gives me a sense of stability and a groundedness  that compliments working in the arts ..

When did you go to training?

I am proud to be one of the  first teachers from DCHY’s first teacher training Program . Unlike a lot of other teacher trainings which are condensed into 6-8 weeks. Our training was over 6 months in the studio  and the students got to see our progress and be part of the process . I have also completed the DCHY flow training.

What is your favourite thing about teaching yoga?

I love the fact that I now teach in the studio I practiced in for years. With students who have been part of my journey from practitioner to teacher. Even though sometimes by their faces during class you think they hate you ,chatting to their happy exhausted heads after is glorious.

Favourite posture and why?

It changes but I have always loved Standing Bow. The kicking and stretching at the same time makes my back sing. Then there are postures like Triangle I used to dread but I now love  because I really focus on the form rather than my heart wanting to jump out of my chest.
